‘Saudi Arabia is keen to do what it takes to ensure protection of women's rights

NEW YORK — Saudi Arabia is keen on taking all legislative and procedural measures that ensure the protection of women"s rights, elimination of discrimination against them, and supporting their full and effective participation in development at all levels as part of the Vision 2030, said Dr. Hala bint Mazyad Al-Twaijri, secretary-general of Family Affairs Council. She made the remarks in her speech on behalf of the Kingdom during the 65th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), which was held here, coinciding with International Women"s Day. Dr. Al- Twaijri stated that the 65th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women came to confirm the active role of women, ensure their rights, support and empower them, in addition to the importance of protecting them from violence and everything stop them from making progress. She pointed that Saudi Arabia"s Vision 2030 came to set up a comprehensive national plan for development, including developmental programs, as the National Transformation Program, which aims to raise the rate of women"s participation in the labor market to 25 percent in 2020 and this target has been exceeded by 31 percent by the end of 2020, adding that Saudi women have assumed many leadership positions in many various fields.
