RIYADH — Single-day coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia crossed the 500-mark for the second day in a row, with 502 new infections recorded on Saturday with eight cases less than Friday, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health. The ministry also announced six more deaths over the past 24 hours from complications caused by COVID-19. This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 387,794 and the virus-related fatalities to 6,643. The ministry also reported 355 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 376,558. The single-day infections in the Riyadh region topped the 200-mark for the third day in a row after many months, with 226 new cases recorded on Saturday. The capital region was followed by the Makkah region with 94 cases and the Eastern region with 86 new infections. The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with seven of them reporting less than 10 infections. According to the ministry, there were 4,593 active cases and 635 of them were in critical condition.
