SCB, CCHI approve new travel insurance product for Saudis traveling abroad

JEDDAH — The Saudi Central Bank (SCB) and the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance (CCHI) announced approving new travel insurance product for Saudi citizens traveling abroad that includes benefits cover for coronavirus (COVID-19) infection’s risks. The new product aims at providing the needed insurance coverage for citizens traveling abroad to ensure smooth access to appropriate health care by insured, who are infected with COVID-19 during their travel abroad. The product also provides coverage for life-threatening medical cases in various countries around the world and travel-related risks including quarantine procedures, canceling or missing trips, medical expenses and medical evacuation in cases of emergency. An approval was also issued for the Tawuniya Insurance Company to offer this product through a common insurance pool, in order to facilitate citizens" access to this insurance policy via a unified mechanism through available various sales channels. The Saudi Central Bank and the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance urge the public to follow precautionary and preventive measures during their travel and to abide by the instructions issued by the competent authorities, wishing safety for all. — SPA
