Saudi Gazette report JEDDAH — Saudi Arabia is scheduled to host an emergency meeting of foreign ministers from Islamic countries on Sunday (May 16). Ministers of the 57-nation Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will “discuss the Israeli aggression in the Palestinian territory,” particularly acts of violence in the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Muslim body said on Saturday in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency. The meeting will be chaired by Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan. The sanctity of the Al-Aqsa mosque, one of Islam’s holiest sites, is a sensitive and emotive issue for Muslims around the world. The OIC, which was previously known as the Organization of Islamic Conference, was established 51 years ago following a Jewish extremist arson attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem.
