RIYADH — Saudi Arabia"s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan said on Thursday that the Kingdom rejects the recent measures taken by Israel to evict the Palestinians from their homes in East Jerusalem, stressing that the attacks on the Palestinians violate all international conventions. In a speech to the United Nations General Assembly, the Saudi foreign minister added: “The Palestinian issue is central to our policy so that the Palestinians can regain their lands.” Prince Faisal also said that the provocative Israeli measures have caused escalation and that violence only begets violence and increases the conflict. The Saudi foreign minister stressed the need to reach a solution to the Palestinian issue on the basis of the Arab Peace Initiative, welcoming the efforts being undertaken to reach an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the delivery of aid. In an exclusive interview to Al Arabiya TV on Wednesday, Prince Faisal expressed the Kingdom"s solidarity with the Palestinian people and called for an immediate end to the ongoing violence in Gaza and Jerusalem. He said the Kingdom’s stance on Palestine has always been clear that is to reach a permanent solution in line with the Arab Peace Initiative with the establishment of a Palestinian state based on 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The Saudi foreign minister in the interview stressed that there is no stability without a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, underlining the need for efforts to stop violations, whether in East Jerusalem or Gaza.
