RIYADH: Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, general supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), met on Thursday with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf at the center’s headquarters in Riyadh. Al-Rabeeah reviewed the humanitarian and relief programs and projects provided by Saudi Arabia to needy and crisis-hit countries worldwide. KSrelief has assisted 68 countries via 1,661 projects in various fields. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the Gulf Aid Coordination Office in Yemen, and expressed their wish to expand its framework. Al-Hajraf stressed KSrelief’s important role in supporting humanitarian and relief efforts worldwide. He also praised its role in coordinating relief work internationally, thus ensuring support for people in need, immediate responses to crises, and highlighting Saudi Arabia as a leading provider of humanitarian and relief work. Al-Rabeeah also met with Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen, where he reviewed the relief and humanitarian work carried out by the center for all needy and affected countries around the world, with Yemen receiving the largest share of that aid. Al-Othaimeen praised KSrelief and its employees for their efforts in serving the needy, which he said strengthened the Kingdom’s leading role in this field. “The center bore fruit in a short time, and became a milestone in the field of humanitarian work in all parts of the world, embodying the vision of the leadership of this generous country, Saudi Arabia, which has placed human beings above all else,” he said, adding that KSrelief and the OIC share a fruitful strategic partnership.
