He considered the phenomenon of terrorism as one that necessitates for the countries of the region to face it and fight it decisively, noting that the region is the most suffering in the world from terrorist practices. On the Syrian crisis, he called for a political solution that would spare the lives of innocent people and achieves transfer of power in a way that matches with the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people and restores security and stability for Syria to offer appropriate environment for the return of the displaced. He lauded the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in this regard and its adoption of an initiative to gather the spectrum of the Syrian opposition at one table to discuss the future of their country, citing Riyadh Declaration which he depicted as the first step in the correct way towards a political solution of the Syrian issue.
