Saudi Arabia’s leading role in Afghan reconciliation hailed

JEDDAH — Saudi Arabia’s important role in spreading peace, stability and security in the Islamic world has drawn appreciation. The Islamic Broadcasting Union (IBU) in a statement on Friday commended the Kingdom’s supportive and necessary efforts to find comprehensive solutions to conflicts in the Islamic world, as well as its endeavors to put an end to wars and bloodshed, especially in Afghanistan, which lasted for more than four decades. Lauding the “Declaration of Peace in Afghanistan singed on Thursday," the IBU said that this is a historic achievement made by Saudi Arabia for facilitating the reconciliation among the warring factions and enhancing peace in Afghanistan. The union praised the Kingdom’s support to the Muslim World League (MWL), which is exerting all possible efforts in finding solutions to all issues, conflicts and disputes in the Islamic world. Meanwhile, Yousef Al-Othaimeen, secretary-general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), praised the outcomes of the Islamic Conference held in Makkah. In a statement, Al-Othaimeen pointed out that this historic announcement reflects the great efforts made by Saudi Arabia and its pivotal role in reconciliation among the parties in the Islamic countries. He affirmed that the MWL"s successful efforts confirm the Kingdom"s keenness to support negotiations among the warring factions and renounce all acts of violence and extremism in all their forms and manifestations. The OIC chief valued the MWL"s efforts, which resulted in the historic declaration and agreement to find a lasting and comprehensive solution, which will support the process of peace, reconciliation, stability, progress, and prosperity in Afghanistan.
