RIYADH — Ministry of Health (MoH) will resume scheduling appointments for second doses of COVID-19 vaccine, starting from July, Al-Ekhbariya TV reported on Friday. On April 10, the ministry announced the postponement of second dose appointments in order to provide the first dose of the vaccine to a larger number of people, especially high-risk groups. The move was taken due to a global shortage in vaccine manufacturing and delivery, the ministry added. The ministry recently said that the second dose of the vaccine would be available for people older than 60 years old. The resumption of second dose appointments comes as nearly 45 percent of the Kingdom’s population has received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccines since the beginning of the vaccination campaign. Recently, the Ministry of Interior announced that vaccination would be mandatory as of Aug. 1 for all those wishing to attend sporting and entertainment events, participate in cultural activities and enter various private and public establishments.
