Education departments prepare for new school year with measures against COVID-19

The Ministry of Education approved the preparations taken by the regional departments while gearing up for returning to the school year. The teachers and students are set to return to school on Sunday, Aug. 29. Primary, middle and secondary school teachers return to schools after the suspension of classes 531 days ago due to the coronavirus pandemic. In Jeddah, more than 38,000 teachers have returned to their schools Sunday, in preparation for the school year and to ensure that schools are ready to receive students next week. Jeddah’s Director of Education Dr. Saad Al-Masoudi was briefed on the application of precautionary measures in the classrooms and made sure that schools comply with preventive measures against COVID-19. While in Al-Baha, more than 10,000 teachers attended schools amid commitment to the safe attendance procedures that the region’s schools have been implementing. And in Taif, more than 27,000 teachers returned to their classes amid the application of health measures and measures to prevent coronavirus. The ministry is also preparing its younger students for the new year. Younger students will be included in the precautionary and preventive methods, in aims of not only ensuring their safety, but also the safety of their families and their community. The ministry has registered appointments to take the vaccine automatically for students who have not received the vaccine, aged 12 and over. While primary and kindergarten students will study remotely for a period of approximately two months, and they will return to in-person studies on Oct. 30.
