Saudi Arabia"s Minister of Commerce Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi paid visits to several pioneering projects in Sweden on Friday. The projects were in specialized fields of priority for the Kingdom"s Vision 2030, including technology, mining, environment, education, health, innovation, renewable and clean energy, among others. The Saudi minister also met with a group of investors, businessmen and owners of innovative companies. The tour came as part of Dr. Al-Qasabi"s current official visit to the Kingdom of Sweden. In the Swedish city of Sickla, Dr. Al-Qasabi embarked on his tour by visiting the Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara Aktiebolag (LKAB), a company owned by the Swedish government, established in 1890. It is one of the leading companies in smart and sustainable mining and high-tech minerals. The Saudi minister and the accompanying delegation also visited Karolinska University Hospital in Solna, an important medical research centers in Europe and one of the primary medical universities in the world. They met with several Saudi students therein. Dr. Al-Qasabi"s tour also included a visit to Kista, the headquarters of Ericsson, a leading provider of data connectivity and telecommunications systems, where he met with the CEO of Kista Science City Karen Bengtson, and was briefed on the city’s operations which is based on the concept of “the triple helix of smart cities.” He also discussed with a number of Swedish officials issues of boosting relations and developing opportunities for cooperation, in addition to promoting innovation, pioneering projects and advanced technologies between the two countries. — SPA
