The General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC) in cooperation with The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) stated that it had thwarted an attempt to smuggle over 5 million Amphetamine pills that were found hidden inside a grape container at Jeddah Islamic Port on Tuesday. The authority explained that the quantity of 5,246,000 Amphetamine pills was found hidden inside a grape container consignment. The detection of the contraband was effected through high-tech security techniques at the port. The official spokesman of the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC) Maj. Mohammed Al-Nujaidi said that the continuous security follow-up of criminal network activities, which target to tamper with the security of Saudi Arabia and its youth, has led to the foiling of the latest attempt. The Maj. Gen. Al-Nujaidi said that they had arrested the recipients of the shipment, two Jordanians and a Syrian, and they were arrested in two locations — Riyadh and Jeddah. Maj. Gen. Al-Nujaidi said that the three were arrested and preliminary legal measures have been taken against them and duly referred to the public prosecution.
