— The Egyptian Siamese twins Sarah and Salma will arrive in Riyadh within a couple of days in line with the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman. The conjoined twins, who will be accompanied by their parents, will undergo tests prior to taking a decision on the possibility of carrying out surgical separation at King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children under the Ministry of National Guard. Advisor at the Royal Court and General Supervisor of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief) Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, who is also head of the medical and surgical team, thanked King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman for this noble humanitarian initiative. This initiative comes as an extension of the great humanitarian efforts being undertaken by Saudi Arabia to alleviate human suffering everywhere. This also reflects the great care that the Kingdom’s leadership attaches to the people of Egypt, and confirms the strong relationship between the two countries. In July this year, the Saudi medical team, led by Dr. Al-Rabeeah, separated the Yemeni parasitic twins Aisha Ahmad Said Mheimoud. This was the 50th surgery performed so far to separate conjoined twins as part of the Saudi National Program for the Separation of Conjoined Twins. Over three decades, 117 Siamese twins from 22 countries have been examined and assessed as part of the program. The Egyptian Siamese twins is the 118th of such cases.
