— The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), chaired the meeting of a team of aviation security experts within the Cooperative Aviation Security Program (CASP) in the Middle East, which is hosted by the Kingdom, and was held from Jan. 19-20, with the aim of adopting aviation security activities and programs during the year 2022. The meeting was attended by representatives of a number of member states of the CASP in the Middle East, and representatives from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The meeting also witnessed the attendance of representatives of: Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Jordan, and the observer states: Qatar and Egypt. Also in attendance was the Director of Aviation Security in the ICAO Regional Office in the Middle East. The attendees commended the achievements made in the CASP in the Middle East, and the leading role played by Saudi Arabia in the field of aviation security in the region. Furthermore, its continuous support of countries to enhance the security and protection of civil aviation from acts of unlawful interference. It is noteworthy that the Kingdom hosts the program, which enjoys generous support from the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques (may God support him), and aims to provide technical support in the field of civil aviation security through the development of programs and activities aimed at achieving the program"s objectives. — SG
