KSA Chairs Experts' Group Meeting on the Arab Media Map for Sustainable Development

Cairo, Dec. 16, 2019, SPA -- Under the chairmanship of the Director of Media Operations, in charge of the Arab League (AL) file, at the Ministry of Media of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Turki bin Marzouk Al-Omari, with the participation of the AL Assistant Secretary-General overseeing the media and communication sector Dr. Qais Al-Azzawi, workings of the second meeting of the experts group to set up Arab media map for sustainable development 2030, began here today. Al-Omari said during the opening session that the meeting is devoted to discussing the Arab media map for sustainable development 2030, which aims to enhance the interest and participation of Arab media, in sustainable development issues approved by the Council of Arab Media Ministers in 2017, in response to the diverse needs of member states. He stressed that the media sector is an effective partner in sustainable development because it is the primary sector that connects governments with people in the Arab region, indicating that the media sector will have a major role in stimulating, monitoring and reporting on the dangers facing societies and educating to acquire development skills and policy.
