SFDA takes part in meet discussing developments and innovative methods in medical radiation

— The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) participated in the 7th Virtual International Conference on Radiation Medicine, organized by King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center under the slogan "Clinical Applications and Innovative Approaches", from Feb. 14 to17. The conference aims to discuss the latest developments and future innovative methods in the field of medical radiation at the level of diagnosis, treatment or ways to prevent risks, with the participation of a group of doctors, scientists and health professionals. It also provides an opportunity to learn about various modern clinical technologies. During his participation in the conference, the executive vice president of the Medical Devices Sector at SFDA, Ali Al-Dalaan, presented an overview of the medical devices and supplies system and its executive regulations, in a scientific session held on Monday, on the SFDA’s requirements for the safe use of radiation-emitting medical devices. The Executive Director of Radiological Health at SFDA Eng. Nasser Al-Aboudi also participated in a panel discussion on the "National Diagnostic Reference Level (NDRL) Project", accompanied by a number of scientific experts. The Director of the Radiation Protection and Safety Department at SFDA Eng. Abdulmajeed Al-Mansour and Head of the Head of Communication and Operation Requirements Section at SFDA Eng. Yousuf Gazder reviewed the requirements for importing and exporting radioactive medical materials used in diagnosis, treatment and other various medical applications. The Head of Investigation and Follow up Section at SFDA, Eng. Fahad Al-Othaim, clarified the requirements for the safe use of radiation-emitting medical devices. More than 200 international and local speakers and a number of government agencies, represented by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, the Ministry of Health and Al-Faisal University, in addition to scientific and professional societies, will participate in the largest conference in the Kingdom in the field of radiology. The conference includes 10 scientific tracks, 30 workshops and specialized courses. — SPA
