Tammy Abraham’s first-half goal was enough to earn Roma a 1-0 win over Atalanta, with Gian Piero Gasperini’s side missing the chance to climb into the top four of Serie A. Roma had the better of the opening exchanges with Gianluca Mancini heading against the crossbar, before Abraham calmly slotted home his 13th Serie A goal of the season in the 32nd minute. Roma held on for second successive 1-0 win while José Mourinho served the final game of his two-match touchline ban. Atalanta’s miserable afternoon was complete when Marten de Roon was sent off in stoppage time after receiving two bookings in quick succession for vigorously protesting a Roma free-kick. Henrikh Mkhitaryan was then also sent off for Roma, but by then the game was won. The result meant Roma moved level on 47 points with Atalanta in fifth. Udinese pulled clear of the relegation zone after they beat Sampdoria 2-1 in a match where all the goals were scored inside the first 13 minutes. In the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich’s Thomas Müller scored a costly own goal as the Bundesliga leaders were held 1-1 at home to third-placed Bayer Leverkusen. Bayern took an 18th-minute lead when defender Niklas Süle pounced on a loose ball to score after two botched clearances following a dangerous corner from Joshua Kimmich. Leverkusen levelled in the 36th with a fortuitous goal, Müller flummoxing his own goalkeeper Sven Ulreich and turning a free-kick from Kerem Demirbay into his own net. It was the first time Bayern had drawn a match in the league since the opening day of the season in August when they were held 1-1 at Borussia Mönchengladbach and was also their first draw in the league at home. Bayern are still well in charge of the German title race with 59 points after 25 matches although the result will give a glimmer of hope to chasing Borussia Dortmund, who are second on 50 points but have a game in hand. Sasa Kalajdzic scored late as Stuttgart came from two goals down to beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-2 and repay coach Pellegrino Matarazzo’s faith after nine games without a win. Chris Führich and Wataru Endo also scored for Stuttgart, who had fallen behind to goals from Alassane Pléa and Marcus Thuram. Hertha Berlin’s inexorable slide toward relegation continued with a 4-1 loss at home to Eintracht Frankfurt a team that had lost their last three games. RB Leipzig scored late to draw with Freiburg 1-1, Wolfsburg defeated Union Berlin 1-0, and Bochum enjoyed a 2-1 win over bottom-placed Greuther Fürth. Luka Modric and Eduardo Camavinga struck scorching goals from outside the area to lead Real Madrid from behind to beat Real Sociedad 4-1 and increase their lead at the top of La Liga . After his midfielders scored just before half-time to overturn an early spot kick by Mikel Oyarzabal, Karim Benzema added a second-half penalty to put the result beyond doubt and take his goal tally to 20. Marco Asensio then finished off the demoralised visitors. In France, substitute Andy Delort scored a brilliant winner two minutes from time as Nice shocked runaway Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain with a 1-0 victory at the Allianz Riviera. Neymar lost possession in the Nice half and the home side broke forward through Calvin Stengs, whose deep cross to the back post was met on the half-volley by Delort as he arrowed his shot into the top corner of the net. The result meant PSG’s lead at the top of the table was cut to 13 points as they remain on 62 from 27 matches, while Nice climbed into second with 49 points from the same number of matches.
