Shoura chief leads Saudi delegation to IPU meetings in Bali

Dr. Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh, Speaker of the Shoura Council, will lead a high-level delegation to the 144th General Assembly of the International Parliamentary Union (IPU) as well as the meetings of IPU"s Governing Council, to be held in the Indonesian city of Bali from Sunday to Thursday. The meetings are held under the theme: "Reaching Zero Emissions: Mobilizing World Parliaments on Climate Change Issue". On the occasion, Al Al-Sheikh said the Kingdom"s participation in this major international event comes in line with the great roles played by Saudi Arabia under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and the Crown Prince to consolidate world peace and solidarity. Al Al-Sheikh drew attention to the Kingdom"s participation in all major international platforms, including its recent regional and international initiatives that contribute to drastically reduce the effect of gas emissions. In this regard, he cited Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman"s Saudi Green Initiative and the Middle East Green Initiative as well as the Kingdom"s recent hosting of the Middle East Green Initiative Summit, which attracted a host of world leaders and decision-makers. The Bali meetings are also scheduled to discuss unified ideas on climate change, including ways to enhance information technology and communications as an auxiliary factor to the education sector. — SPA
