Choucair: Lebanon needs strong relations with GCC States, especially Saudi Arabia

Chairman of the Lebanese Economic Organizations, former Minister of Telecommunications Mohamed Choucair stressed the need for Lebanon to adhere to the policy of disassociation from the regional conflicts. He called on his country"s government to take the necessary and required measures to restore normal relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). In a statement he made on the sidelines of an Iftar hosted by Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Bin Abdullah Bukhari, Choucair said that Lebanon cannot continue economically without a strong and deep relationship with the GCC states, especially Saudi Arabia. It added that he hoped that the next phase of relations would be fresh, positive and constructive in terms of relations between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. The Iftar, which saw discussions on the general affairs in Lebanon namely the social and economic situations, was attended by several members of the economic bodies and heads of the Lebanese and GCC businessmen councils. — SPA
