RIYADH: Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman on Tuesday chaired the 19th session of the Joint Defense Council of the Defense Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council. The Riyadh meeting was attended by GCC defense ministers, GCC Secretary-General Nayef Falah Al-Hajraf and Commander of the GCC Unified Military Command Lt. Gen. Eid bin Awad Al-Shalawi. The meeting discussed topics including joint military action among GCC states. Prince Khalid said in his opening speech that strengthening cooperation between GCC countries would preserve their fortunes and enhance their people’s achievements. He said the council would ensure the armed forces were able to confront all risks and threats, achieve regional security and stability and protect national interests and economic resources. Prince Khalid thanked the GCC defense ministers and the secretary-general for sincere efforts made to develop and strengthen cooperation on the defense of the Gulf. He said he hoped that the Gulf states would maintain security and safety under the guidance of their wise leaders.
