Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi expressed Thursday serious concern over lack of progress in resolving the outstanding safeguards issues relating to Iran"s commitment to the non-proliferation treaty (NPT). Grossi handed a report to member states, in which he indicated that Iran suggested holding another technical meeting with the agency"s top officials in Tehran, before the end of the month. However, Grossi stressed that this meeting should be aimed at clarifying and resolving these issues. IAEA"s Director General added that these issues stem from Iran"s obligations to the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement between Iran and the Agency, adding that they should be resolved so that the agency is able to provide assurances that Iran"s nuclear program is exclusively peaceful. He further clarified that he will continue following these issues and will be submitting reports to member states as needed. — Agencies
