The Authority of People with Disabilities (APD) and the Human Rights Commission (HRC) met to discuss aspects of cooperation and discuss joint issues. The HRC was represented by Vice President of the Commission Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah Alkhalil, and the APD was represented by Dr. Hisham Alhaidary. The two sides discussed aspects of cooperation regarding issues and challenges faced by persons with disabilities as well as the benefits of joint research and studies by both sides. In addition to the participation in special committees for people with disabilities, the HRC in cooperation with the APD will contribute to educating and raising societal awareness about the rights of people with disabilities. It is noteworthy that the APD has signed a cooperation agreement with the HRC with the aim of raising the quality of services provided to people with disabilities, educating the society about the rights of people with disabilities, and advancing integration between various sectors. These actions are in line with the International Conventions on the Rights of People with Disability (CRPD) which the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia signed and ratified in 2008. The Kingdom’s motto is, we work together to ensure the achievement of a decent life for people with disabilities and access to an inclusive and harmonious society. — SPA
