The meeting of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Chinese President Xi Jinping, which was held at Al Yamamah Palace in Riyadh, in the presence of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, culminated in the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between the two countries. The two sides reviewed the historical ties between the Kingdom and China, and ways to enhance cooperation to serve the interests of the two countries and peoples in various fields. The meeting was attended by National Security Advisor and Minister of State Dr. Musaed Al-Aiban, and from the Chinese side, member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, Ding Xuexiang, and State Adviser and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi. Earlier on Thursday, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the visiting Chinese president held a session of official talks, which touched on aspects of partnership and joint coordination efforts in various fields. They also discussed opportunities to invest the available resources in both countries, in addition to regional and international developments and other issues of common concern. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Xi Jinping oversaw the exchange of a number of bilateral agreements and MOUs, which included a plan to harmonize the implementation of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 with China’s Belt and Road Initiative, a memorandum of understanding in the field of hydrogen energy, an agreement for judicial cooperation and assistance in civil, commercial and personal status matters, and a memorandum of cooperation for the teaching of the Chinese language, as well as an MOU in support of direct investment, and an action plan to activate the provisions of an MOU in the field of housing. Also on Thursday, the King Saud University conferred President Xi Jinping an honorary doctorate degree in recognition of his remarkable achievements in national governance and his key contributions to bilateral friendship and cooperation. The event, which was attended by the Saudi Crown Prince, was presided over by Badran bin Abdulrahman Al-Omar, president of King Saud University.
