Palestinian Foreign Ministry Calls on UNSC to Rehabilitate its Role, Support Int'l Law, End Settlers' Crimes

Ramallah, Dec 25, 2020, SPA -- The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates called on the United Nations' Security Council (UNSC) to restore and fix respect for its role and tasks, that it was founded to achieve. The statement called on the UNSC also to provide support for the principles of international law, international legitimacy, its resolutions and the principles of human rights, through implementation of the Resolution no.:2334, regarding the illegality of settlements and cessation of settlers crimes against the Palestinians lives and properties, as well. The ministry said in a statement announced here today that: The attacks carried out by settlers against the Palestinian people are not only aimed at terrorizing and harassing Palestinian citizens, but are linked to colonial expansionist plans to steal more Palestinian lands, in favor of expanding Israeli settlements and outposts. What is happening is targeting vast areas located in the south, southwest and east of Nablus and extending to the eastern regions of the occupied West Bank, the ministry stated. Ultimate aim of establishing a huge settlements gatherings that consecrate the separation of Palestinian areas into isolated "cantons", linking settlements and transforming them into a huge settlements' gatherings, the statement elaborated. Linking these settlements and the Israeli depth, would lead to the final closing of the door to any opportunity to establish a viable, geographically connected and sovereign Palestinian state, with Al-Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital, it added. Recent settlers attacks fall within the framework of those goals, which aim to achieve and impose the gradual and effective annexation of all "C" areas and the Palestinians' families living in, according to the statement.
