Geneva, Feb 26, 2020, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia called on the international community and the Human Rights Council to take immediate action to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people from the grave violations they face, at the hands of the Israeli occupation, on the ground, and to hold Israel accountable as an occupying power for all the violations committed against the Palestinians. Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wassel, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations, in Geneva, stressed in a speech before the Human Rights Council, the necessity of obligating Israel to respect international law and implement relevant international resolutions, while calling for compensation for all those affected by the heavy losses suffered by them, due to violations of the Israeli occupation forces. The Ambassador affirmed the continued support solidarity of the Kingdom to the Palestinian people, at all levels and forums, pointing out that the Kingdom was briefed on the report of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, which touched on developments related to ensuring accountability and justice, in all violations of international law in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, and the concern expressed by the report about the continuing violations against the Palestinian people, including women and children, and flagrant violations of war crimes and crimes against humanity. --SPA 20:27 LOCAL TIME 17:27 GMT 0035 www.spa.gov.sa/w1275031
