London, Jumada II 19, 1435, Apr 19, 2014, SPA -- Lawmakers across the political spectrum in Northern Ireland on Saturday condemned the killing of a former senior leader in an Irish Republican Army splinter group, dpa reported. Tommy Crossan, 43, was shot multiple times at close range inside an office at an industrial site in Belfast on Friday. Police arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the killing. The ex-leader of the Continuity IRA (CIRA), Crossan had been the subject of death threats since being expelled from the IRA dissident group after a fallout. CIRA had opposed the peace process that ended three decades of violence in Northern Ireland. Crossan's killing came on the 16th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, which mandated political power-sharing between Catholics and Protestants. -- SPA 20:46 LOCAL TIME 17:46 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1222402
