Jeddah, Rajab 2, 1434, May 12, 2013, SPA - The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has condemned Israel’s approval for the building of 296 new settlement units in the West Bank. In a press release issued here yesterday, Prof. Ihsanoglu described this decision as a dangerous step which reflects the intransigence of the occupying force, Israel, in continuing its flagrant violations of international law and international legitimacy resolutions and its defiance of the will of the international community. He stated that the Israeli settlement policy aims at consolidating occupation and imposing a fait accompli. He called on the Security Council and the Middle East Quartet Committee, in particular, to assume their responsibility and compel Israel to stop the settlement activity which could undermine chances for peace and stability in the region. --SPA 11:03 LOCAL TIME 08:03 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1109223
