Officials: 19 Killed in Car Bombings in South Iraq

Baghdad, Jumada II 19, 1434, Apr 29, 2013, SPA - Three car bombs exploded Monday in public areas in two cities in Southern Iraq, killing 19 civilians and wounding dozens, officials said. Two parked car bombs went off simultaneously Monday morning in the city of Amarah near a gathering of construction workers and a market, killing 12 civilians and wounding 25, according to police. Amarah is located 320 kilometers (200 miles) southeast of Baghdad. Another police officer said a parked car bomb exploded near a restaurant in the city of Diwaniyah, killing seven civilians and wounding 15 others. The city is located 130 kilometers (80 miles) south of Baghdad.
