Palestinian President Demands Security Council Session to Stop Israeli Attacks On Gaza

Ramallah, Ramadan 20, 1432, Aug 20, 2011, SPA - Chief Palestinian Negotiator Saeb Erekat disclosed here last night that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas demanded convening of an emergency session of the UN Security Council to stop Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip. Erekat said the Palestinian President instructed the representative of Palestine at the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, to move quickly for convening an emergency session of the UN Security Council to terminate Israeli attacks and the dangerous Israeli escalations that have killed dozens of Palestinians as well as bring about an end to continual bombing raids against the Palestinian people in Gaza. Erekat pointed out that President Abbas also instructed the representative of Palestine to the Arab League to request for an emergency session of the Arab League to discuss the Israeli escalations against the Palestinian people in order to take steps to confront and stop this dangerous aggression. --SPA 12:53 LOCAL TIME 09:53 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/919153
