GENEVA, Sha'ban 21, 1432, Jul 22, 2011, SPA -- The International Committee of the Red Cross says it has visited ousted Ivory Coast strongman Laurent Gbagbo in detention for the first time, AP reported. The ICRC has previously struggled to get access to Gbagbo, his family and his collaborators. The neutral humanitarian group said Friday that the meeting with Gbagbo took place during a series of visits July 18-21 in Bouna, Boundiali, Katiola, Korhogo and Odienne, in the north of the country. ICRC's head of delegation in Abidjan, Dominique Liengme, says the visits included private interviews with the detainees. He says the group will continue such detainee visits "to make sure they are treated humanely." The former president has yet to be formally charged with a crime. -- SPA 10:34 LOCAL TIME 07:34 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/912605
