WARSAW, Rabi' Al-Awwal 04, 1432 H/Feb 07, 2011, SPA -- France's president praised Poland on Monday for trying to improve its strained relations with Russia, saying that could help the EU's dealings with Moscow. Nicolas Sarkozy spoke after a meeting in Warsaw with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski, according to AP. The meeting is part of a Polish attempt to revive top-tier meetings by the leaders of the three countries before Poland takes over the EU's rotating presidency on July 1. The group, known as the Weimar Triangle, held summits from 1991 to 2006. But they've been on hold since Poland's President Lech Kaczynski _ who died in a plane crash last year _ stopped them out of anger over critical German media coverage of him. Komorowski said after Monday's meeting that he would like to include Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in the next Weimar Triangle meeting, a step welcomed by Sarkozy, who noted that Poland is taking steps to improve its cooperation with Russia. «The approach of President Komorowski to Russia is clever and bold,» Sarkozy said. «Every action that would help us understand that the cold war is over will be welcome.» He said he would be happy to attend any meeting of the three leaders with Medvedev. -- SPA 20:22 LOCAL TIME 17:22 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/862816
