Sana'a, Dhu-AlQa'dah 8, 1432, Oct 6, 2011, SPA -- Fierce clashes erupted early Thursday in the Yemeni capital Sana'a between forces loyal to President Ali Abdullah Saleh and tribal opponents, according to dpa. The fighting was raging in an area located around 10 kilometers from Sana'a airport in the district of Al-Hasabah in the northern side of the capital. No casualties were immediately reported. The clashes were the latest between the pro-Saleh troops and loyalists of Sheikh Sadiq al-Ahmar, an influential tribal chief, who has recently vowed not to allow the Yemeni president to keep power. At least 1,480 people have been killed in the Arabian Peninsula country since the clashes between security forces and anti-Saleh opponents began in February, according to the government. --SPA 11:40 LOCAL TIME 08:40 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/931725
