Washington, Rabi Al-Awwal 19, 1432, Feb 22, 2011, SPA -- The U.S. military needs to increase its satellite protection, Pentagon officials said Monday. Pentagon officials presented a new U.S. military strategy for space, calling for greater cooperation with other nations on space-based programs to improve the United States’ ability to avert enemies. U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense William Lynn said, “we need to ensure that we can continue to utilize space to navigate with accuracy, to communicate with certainty, to strike with precision, and to see the battlefield with clarity.” Lynn and other Pentagon officials said space has become more congested, competitive, and contested, and the United States must keep up with the advances. --SPA 11:52 LOCAL TIME 08:52 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/866799
