Kathmandu, Sha'ban 23, 1431/Aug 04, 2010, SPA -- Indian envoy Shyam Saran arrived in the Nepalese capital Kathmandu on Wednesday to help sort out the political stalemate to choose a prime minister, dpa reported. "The prime minister of India has sent me here as an envoy so that I can, along with his excellency Ambassador Rakesh Sood, hold extensive meetings with the political leaders in the country to see whether or not there is some way in which we can built consensus," Saran told the media when he arrived at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan Airport. "We have as a neighbour, great interest in the political stability and economic prosperity of Nepal." Saran's visit, which comes at a time when Nepal has failed to elect a prime minister after three rounds of polling, is being viewed as meaningful. Saran will hold consultations with different political party leaders and will mediate talks for the formation of a new government during his stay. Reacting to his visit, the Maoists said they would not accept "foreign interference" in the formation of new government, local media reported. Saran served as ambassador to Nepal from 2002 to 2004, and is considered an expert in Nepal matters by New Delhi. --SPA 23:07 LOCAL TIME 20:07 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/807821
