Nairobi/Abuja, Jumada Al-Awwal 05, 1432, April 09, 2011, SPA -- Up to 20 people were feared dead after an explosion rocked a central Nigerian election office late Friday just hours before voting in parliamentary elections was set to begin. The explosion in Suleja, 20 kilometres from the capital Abuja, was feared to have killed a representative for the electoral commission and political party representatives who were preparing for the vote to begin, local news site Next reported. Other news sources said up to six people may have been killed in the blast, according to a report of DPA. Elections were to have taken place last week, but were pushed back hours before the voting was to begin. Some 73.5 million Nigerians are registered to elect 109 senators and 360 members of the House of Representatives across the country. --SPA 14:05 LOCAL TIME 11:05 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/881884
