AMMAN, Dhu Al-Qa'dah 10, 1431, Oct 18, 2010, SPA -- King Abdullah II and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki held a meeting Sunday that focused on Jordanian-Iraqi ties and efforts to break the political stalemate in Iraq that followed inconclusive elections. King Abdullah and Al Maliki said effective and practical steps are needed to cement relations in various domains especially trade and economic cooperation "to positively reflect on the two countries' peoples." King Abdullah pledged full support for Iraqi people in their efforts to lay the foundations of security and stability in their country whose security is a key pillar of regional stability. The meeting also dealt with the latest efforts to form a new Iraqi government, and the King urged Iraqis to put together a government that "reflects the aspirations of all Iraqis and seeks to build a better future for their country." He reiterated that Jordan supports efforts to achieve reconciliation among all Iraqis and build a solid internal front. Al Maliki thanked the King for his support, expressing his keenness to develop cooperation with Jordan in various fields to serve common interests.
