Geneva, April 13, 2010, SPA -- The International Committee of the Red Cross says eight of its staff have been kidnapped by an armed group in Congo. Spokesman Marcal Izard in Geneva says seven Congolese and one Swiss were seized Friday afternoon in the Mimembwe region of South Kivu province. The Associated Press quoted Izard as saying that the Red Cross «has been able to get in touch with some of our colleagues after the incident.» He declined Tuesday to name the armed group responsible or to say whether the Red Cross is in contact with the group. --SPA 11:06 LOCAL TIME 08:06 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/769112
