Belgrade, Ramadan 18, 1431 / Aug. 28, 2010, SPA -- Serbian officials are to hold talks with the European Union on Belgrade's planned UN resolution opposing Kosovo's independence, President Boris Tadic said Saturday. "A government delegation will soon travel to Brussels to discuss the Kosovo resolution with the European Union's officials," dpa quoted Tadic as telling reporters in western town of Uzice. Tadic said a compromise on the resolution was possible. "We believe our resolution is full of compromises," he said. "But I also believe that no one can be against negotiations." His comments were seen as a hint at a possible shift from the government's hardline stance on Kosovo. Serbia bitterly opposes Kosovo's 2008 declaration of independence from Belgrade and has indicated it plans to push for the resolution against it through the United Nations General Assembly next week. Earlier this week, when German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle called on Belgrade to abandon the Kosovo resolution and come to terms with the reality of the loss of its former province, Tadic and other senior officials rejected the idea. "Serbia will never recognize Kosovo. That is a red line we will not cross," Tadic said. To date Kosovo's independence has been recognized by 69 countries, including most EU members and United States. In July, the International Court of Justice in The Hague found that Kosovo's was not illegal. --SPA 21:06 LOCAL TIME 18:06 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/813464
