LONDON, July 28, 2010, SPA -- Britain's Defense Ministry says a soldier working for a bomb disposal unit has been killed in Afghanistan after a firefight with insurgents in the country's restive Helmand province. The Ministry of Defense said Monday the soldier was part of the 101 Engineer Regiment, attached to the Joint Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group, and was working in the Nahr-e Saraj district when he was killed on Sunday, the Associated Press reported. The soldier has not been named but his family have been informed. He is the 20th British soldier to die this month in Afghanistan. In all, 309 British personnel have been killed in the country since the start of operations in October 2001. --SPA 14:12 LOCAL TIME 11:12 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/796917
