Riyadh, May 14, 2010, SPA -- Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Atiyyah, the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) said today that the policy and diplomacy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia towards the Arab and Islamic causes receives the utmost respect and appreciation of the Arab, Islamic and international circles and that this policy overpasses the skeptical plans and fabricated lies of the Zionist circles who are falling in their self-importance that reflects a mentality going contrary to the path of right, justice and peace. In response to remarks by the Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Liebermann that he is planning to launch a media and legal campaign against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, according to Israeli media, Al-Atiyyah said this expresses pure political bankruptcy and exposes a helpless attempt aiming at hiding the realities through creating media confusion to draw attention away from the Israeli dilemma emanating from the continuous racial and aggressive policies and practices of the Israeli government against Palestinians and against several initiatives seeking comprehensive and fair peace in the Middle East. In a press statement, Al-Atiyyah suggested that any attempt to throw dust over the Saudi diplomacy pillars, particularly if that comes from Israel, confirms anew and undoubtedly the success, clearness and firmness of the Saudi foreign policy towards the Arab and Islamic issues. The Israeli furious plots also indicate that Tel Aviv is suffering a state of political and diplomatic concern and confusion due to its confusing acts that endanger the world peace and security, Al-Atiyyah said, adding that, it is now apparent that the Arab Peace Initiative, which was originally suggested by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud aiming at the support of Arab and Islamic crucial issues, especially the Palestinian issue, has put the Israeli occupiers before great challenges as the initiative has received unprecedented Arab, Islamic and international acceptance and support and again pushed the Israeli state to face the high price of comprehensive and fair peace. So far, Israel failed that examination, the GCC Secretary General stated. Al-Atiyyah said it is obvious that, in view of this impasse and failure of its policy at the international arena, Israel tries to create fake crises, particularly against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the architect of peace new visions in the region. He lauded what he described as the positive confirmation announced by Prince Saud Al-Faisal, the Saudi Foreign Minister, while addressing the Ministerial Arab Chinese fourth Forum yesterday in Beijing on the Arab Peace initiative when he spoke about the Arab stretching hand which was facing Israeli government’s intransigence, rejection and derailing practices. In conclusion, the Secretary General of the GCC said what was mentioned by the Saudi Foreign Minister expresses, not only the Saudi foreign policy, but reflects a clear collective Arab position that the Israeli government could not evade or make a cover behind a media dust against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which represents a strong Arab and Islamic momentousness based on the pillars of its positions of right, justice and real peace. --SPA 02:43 LOCAL TIME 23:43 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/781013
