Damascus, Safar 23, 1432, Jan 27, 2011, SPA -- Britain's Foreign Secretary William Hague said Thursday that his country recognized the importance of Syria in the Mideast peace process, following a meeting with his Syrian counterpart in Damascus, dpa reported. Speaking to journalists after his meeting, Hague said the goal of the visit was to exchange views on a two-state solution regarding the Palestinian-Israeli track. The diplomats also discussed recent developments in neighbouring Lebanon and the United Nations tribunal into the killing of former premier Rafiq Hariri. "Syria is ready to cooperate with the Lebanese government, headed by Najib Mikati and to implement all agreements signed between the two sides," said Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallam. -- SPA 22:21 LOCAL TIME 19:21 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/859881
