U.S. Vice President Biden meets with President Mubarak in Sharm El-Sheikh

Cairo, June 07, 2010, SPA -- US Vice President Joe Biden met with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Sunday in Sharm El-Sheikh to discuss a number of issues of common interest within the framework of his current visit to Egypt. Media reports indicated that the two sides discussed several issues including recent developments in the Middle East, especially in light of the recent Israeli aggression on the Freedom Flotilla, in addition to the Iranian nuclear file and recent developments in Sudan. Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit said that talks between Biden and President Mubarak will focus on all vital issues and developments in the Middle East. Talks will also focus on finding ways to push forward the indirect negotiations between Palestinians and Israel, according to a report of Kuwait news agency "KUNA." Biden's accompanying delegation includes the National Security Adviser to the Vice President Tony Bleeker, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and Assistant Rooney Stickers, First National Security Council Daniel Shapiro, and Special Adviser to the Vice President for the Middle East Hithero Mustafa, as well as the US Ambassador in Cairo, Margaret Scobey. The US Vice President who was accompanied by his wife arrived in Sharm El-Sheikh last night for his first visit to the country since taking post in January 2009.
