Gaza, May 02, 2010, SPA -- Israel is ready to take part in any new peace negotiations, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday. KUNA quoted Radio Israel as saying that Netanyahu hailed Arab League's decision to "re-engage in peace negotiations with Israel," which is expected to kick off in mid-May. Israel decided to alter its policy adopted 16 years ago and is now ready to join negotiations without "preconditions" Netanyahu said. During its latest meeting held Saturday, the Arab League committee assigned to follow-up with Arab peace initiative reiterated support for indirect negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians, adding that the decision was based on "new American promises." A statement issued by the committee noted to the letter sent by US President Barak Obama to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and said that it decided to join negotiations although it did not "believe that Israeli is taking peace seriously." --MORE 12:01 LOCAL TIME 09:01 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/775852
