US envoy stops in SKorea en route to NKorea

INCHEON, South Korea, December 06, SPA -- President Barack Obama"sspecial envoy arrived in South Korea on Sunday en route toNorth Korea for a rare meeting aimed at bringing thecommunist country back to international nuclear disarmamenttalks. Stephen Bosworth, the U.S. special representative forNorth Korea, will travel to Pyongyang on Tuesday in whatwould be the first one-on-one talks between the U.S. andthe North since Obama took office in January. During his three-day trip to North Korea, Bosworth isexpected to meet First Vice Foreign Minister Kang Sok Ju _the country"s top nuclear strategist, according to SouthKorea"s Yonhap news agency. Before flying to Pyongyang from a U.S. air base nearSeoul, Bosworth is to meet senior officials including chiefSouth Korean nuclear negotiator Wi Sung-lac to discuss hisNorth Korean trip, according to Seoul"s Foreign Ministry.
