African Union Condemns Somalia Blast

Addis Ababa, December 05, SPA -- The African Union (AU) has condemned the Somali suicide attack in the capital Mogadishu, which killed at least 19 people including three government ministers. In a statement issued in Nairobi, the AU Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) sent its condolences to the bereaved families, saying it has mobilized necessary resources to support the casualties and their relatives during the trying period. "The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) condemns in the strongest terms possible today"s suicide attack by armed opposition groups resulting in the death of ministers of the Somalian Transitional Federal Government (TFG) and ordinary citizens," the statement was quoted as saying by Qatar News Agency (QNA). A suicide bomber blew himself up yesterday inside Hotel Shamo at KM 5 area of Mogadishu during the graduation ceremony of medical students of the Banadir University, killing 19 civilians and injuring several others. --SPA 13:25 LOCAL TIME 10:25 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/725024
