KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, June 24, SPA -- Afghan and coalition forces killed 23 suspected Taliban fighters in a clash in southernAfghanistan, an Afghan army general said Wednesday. The authorities recovered the bodies and the militant'sweapons after the fighting Tuesday near Tirin Kot, thecapital of the southern Uruzgan province, said Gen. SherMohammad Zazai, an army officer in charge of southernAfghanistan. A known Taliban commander in the region, Mullah Ismail,was killed during the clash, which took place in amountainous area, Zazai was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/677834
