As regards the Arab peace initiative, the role of its committee and the importance of its continued movement according to the movement plan and the political framework have been stressed. Arab abidance by the Arab peace initiative as basis to settlement of the Arab-Israeli conflict has been also confirmed. The meeting hailed the participation of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Djibouti, UAE, Oman and Yemen in the international liaison group on confronting piracy actions and armed seizure off the Somali coasts; promoting Arab cooperation to achieve security in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden; and rejection of any endeavors to internationalize the Red Sea region. The final statement reviewed tense issues including the Palestinian cause and Arab-Israeli conflict, the Israeli weapons of mass destruction and nuclear weapons, pledges of Gaza reconstruction conference, the situation in Iraq, occupied Syrian Golan, the international tribunal on Lebanon, the three UAE islands, the US sanctions imposed on Syria, the Sudan dispute with the International Court of Justice, the situation in Somalia, and the situation along the Djibouti-Eritrean border. --SPA www.spa.gov.sa/640760
