PARIS, March 03, SPA -- French President Nicolas Sarkozy has named aspecial envoy for Afghanistan charged with reinforcingFrance's role in supporting Afghanistan and Pakistan, Associated Press reported. Pierre Lellouche, the new envoy, is a specialist ininternational affairs and a lawmaker from Sarkozy's rulingUMP party. France has about 3,300 troops in the Afghan theater.
