Somali gunmen release 2 abducted aid workers

MOGADISHU, Somalia, April 28, SPA -- A Somali official and a clan elder say gunmen have released two European aid workersafter holding them for nine days in southwestern Somalia. Rab Dhure District Commissioner Sheik Mohamed Kheyr sayselders and an extremist group helped secure therelease Tuesday of the Belgian and Dutch aid workers of thegroup "Doctors Without Borders". The aid group declined to comment. Kheyr says no ransom was paid, according to a report of Associated Press. Clan elder Maed Hussein who says he helped negotiate therelease said the aid workers are well but tired. He saidthey are in Rab Dhure, a town near the border withEthiopia.
