Brussels, May 31, SPA -- As many as 375 million eligible voters in 27 European Union countries will be asked to cast their ballots between Thursday and Sunday to elect the European Parliament's 736 members, according to a report of DPA. The vote comes in the midst of the bloc's worst recession in 60years, meaning the state of the economy will likely feature high onvoters' agenda. From Lisbon to Riga, Europe's cities have been lined withbillboards featuring slogans and smiling candidates. The vote will serve as a crucial test ahead of general electionslater in the year in a number of countries, including Germany,Bulgaria and the Czech Republic.
